Benvenuto a Roma!
You MUST throw a coin in the Trevi fountain, so you will return to ROMA!
The fountain has been restored, cleaned and looks beautiful. Now, all the “coins in the Fountain” are given to a charity. The area is very crowded, so beware of pickpockets. A must see on the far bottom right of the big fountain is a small fountain that has crossing water spouts, when lovers were going to be separated they went to the fountain and crossed glasses so they would return to each other.
The MOST beautiful hotel I have seen in years is the EDEN HOTEL, part of the Dorchester collection. A STAR the hotel is 2 blocks off the Via Veneto with a magnificent view from the roof top dining, bar, breakfast room, cocktails with piano music. The EDEN is magnificent, white marble, beautiful art, quiet corners and FABULOUS SERVICE. I cannot say enough GREAT things about the hotel. IT is the BEST; yes it is pricey, BUT SO WORTH EVERY EURO.
Another new hotel is Pantheon Iconic, great location, walking distance to most to the plazas and restaurants. With 78 rooms including some 2 double beds, so it can be for four people per room!
A great hotel is Rocco Forte De Russia, WHOW. Modern, CHIC and the NEW Hotel De La Ville will open in May next to the Hassler. It will be a Rocco Forte gem above the Spanish Steps, some of you may remember it as the Intercontinental but the change is fabulous.
Many of my favorite restaurants are still there and now more music cafe restaurants. Lots of fun in Roma. It is a walking city, not very good for anyone with disabilities, so keep in mind.
A, note, that every time you order a glass of wine you will get things to eat with it and you can taste the wine before they pour your glass, so you can say NO and change service. Is VERY friendly and everyone speaks English.
It is a VERY welcoming city.
